o Party food are super simple for this type of party! Usually a pirate party will commence around lunch time when the water is warmest and all children have just had a nap and are in good spirits. Finger foods such as sandwiches, fruit and veggie platters, or if you are looking into a hot lunch consider the traditional hamburgers and hot dogs. To bring the theme to your party food add a toothpick flag in the hamburger or the sandwiches. Use a cookie cutter to cut the cheese or meat into a skull or cross bones. This adds a fun visual appeal to your food choice. As for drinks fruit punch is popular in both the red and blue variety. Red fruit punch can be called Pirates blood and the blue variety can be called Mermaid juice or Siren mist. As for dessert blue jello can be made to look like water, ground up gram crackers for sand, and teddy grams decorated with piping icing made to look like pirates. This dessert is called the Stranded Scallywag; and ultra-fun dessert that is a great tie into your pirate pool party!
o Party Games for this themed party are super simple but will provide fun for this family friendly party. First is Pin the Parrot to the Captain: This game requires a poster of the captain (which can be ANYONE. Store bought or a printed poster of a guest coming to the party) a cut out photo of a parrot, double sided tape, and a blindfold. It is the same as pin the tail on the donkey during which you get blindfolded, spin around three times, and in this version you must pin the Parrot on the Captains shoulder. Another quick fun and entertaining game is called Chubby Parrot! This game is great fun for both adults and children. We all know that parrots love crackers! So, in this game the players sit in a circle with a bowl full of circular crackers. Then, one at a time, each player takes a turn putting one cracker in their mouth and after they successfully get the cracker in their mouth they have to say CHUBBY PARROT RRRRAAAWWWKK! This continues around and around the circle one player at a time until the crackers are gone or until one player ends up with the most crackers in their cheeks and can still manage to get out CHUBBY PARROT RRRRAAAWWWKK! Its super entertaining to see all those full parrot cheeks and provides a good laugh for everyone.
o As for pool games buying plastic coins and a sinkable box is great for kids to search for lost treasure. For the younger children this same concept also works above water and is much safer for children not comfortable in water.
* Be POSITIVE to lay down pool rules and show the group where diving and jumping in IS/ISN’T allowed. We do not want any accidents during the AWESOME pirate jubilee!
This is just one themed party but that is all the time we have for now and I will be back with pool party ideas for adults soon!
Summer can’t come soon enough! Stay warm everyone!
